"Please, anyone who knows the whereabouts of the above, contact the family"

Ai Weiwei, male, 53 years old. On April 3, 2011 around 8:30, at Beijing Capital International Airport, before boarding a flight to Hong Kong, he was taken away by three men. More than fifty hours later, present whereabouts remains unknown.
Please, anyone who knows the whereabouts of the above, contact the family
This was a missing person sign written and signed by Weiwei's family (I copied the photo and translation from Evan Osnos' great New Yorker blog Letter from China.)

The Global Times, an English language CCP mouthpiece recently denounced both Ai for his unharmonious behavior and the West in general for its meddlesome ways. I recommend reading the Global Times in the same way one should keep one eye on the likes of Rush Limbaugh, Glen Beck, or Sarah Palin.

In other online China watching news, the illustrious James Fallows of the Atlantic has returned from his sabbatical/ book researching trip in China. I have enjoyed all his guest bloggers filling in for Mr. Fallows and I heartily await his return and am looking forward to his book (if I am correct that he was actually there writing a book.)
